Description

A beautiful stained glass window with spring landscape scene attributed to Tiffany Studios New York. The 58" tall framed window has a background of swirled blue and purple mottled glass towards the top, becoming yellowish-reddish orangey white at the middle, decorated with multicolored iris and green foliage at the bottom.

Glass type and application: Confetti glass, rippled glass, layered – to create a three-dimensional and naturalistic effect for the blossoms and landscape.

Subjectively: the window depicts a large magnolia tree over a rich blue sky, with hilly landscape, all over a colorful blooming iris foreground.

Lot Note(s): The window features numerous plated (layered) panels, with 3 layers of glass and appears to be in its original oak wooden frame.

Historical Significance: Louis Comfort Tiffany considered similar windows depicting flowering trees to be among his finest creations, and they were originally designed for specific mansions in New York City, such as the Tiffany Mansion on Madison Avenue.
